Clown Ministry Overview

MUMC's Clown Ministry continues a light-hearted tradition of fun for everyone by promoting "Walking-Around" clowning skills for everyone. It's now in its fourth year with traditional original costumes and sometimes unique clowning skills including walk-around entertainment for youngsters and adults, as well as mime, hand-puppets,sing-a-longs, silk illusions and otherwise goofy imitations of the real thing.

To illustrate, MUMC's clowns recently appeared in a show inspired by David Luna at the Mary Lee Foundation's Rehabilitation Center located on LaMar Square Drive near-downtown Austin. Management indicated that up to forty residents could be seated in their venue, yet up to forty were left standing before the conclusion of the first act. A highlight of the show was the introduction of the clown's newly organized "Manchaca Kazoo Band" scripted and directed by Barbara Lee Renfro. An informal note of thanks from management was received after that show signed by fourteen Mary Lee Center residents. Later that year, MUMC's clown ministry operated the "Balloon Table" at the well-attended "Manchaca UMC Fall Festival" held in conjunction with the ever-popular "Pumpkin Patch." An unbiased witness reported that "all requests for helium-filled balloons from appreciated children and adults appeared to be filled with accuracy and dispatch." Enough said.

If you would like to be considered (or even just try out with our clown group) just leave a message at the church office or drop a note to them by writing MUMC Clowning Ministry, PO Box 460, Manchaca, Texas 78652.
