Breakfast With Beth
We had a wonderful turn out for the inaugural Breakfast with Beth. It was good to sit with other parents and talk about what we want in our youth program. The group decided that we would meet on 5th Sundays during Sunday School. Be sure and mark your calendars for the next meeting on May 29.
From the meeting a couple of things came up. As you know, the 7th and 8th grade human sexuality class was canceled for a second time because there were not enough youth registered. As a group, the parents felt that talking about human sexuality from a church perspective is important. If you are interested in your youth participating in some type of human sexuality information from a sacred perspective, please let me know. Also let me know what format would work best for you. Would a Saturday work or a couple of youth group times on Sundays?
Another issue that came up was the Wednesday night activities during the summer. I am willing to do this again but in order to do this we need them to run continuously for June and July. I will be out Jun 22 for Middle School mission trip, Jul 6 for High School mission trip, and most likely one other Wednesday in July for family vacation. Let me know if the Wednesday night activity is something that you would like to see continued. Please also let me know if you are willing to help run the Wednesday night activities. We need to have at least two adults present who have had background checks performed to follow our church’s Child, Youth, and Adult Safety Policy.
One Minute Bible For Students
As Methodists, we are a people of the Book and our common book is the Bible. Over the last couple of years, I have provided each youth with a copy of the One Minute Bible for Students. As we have discussed in youth group, these readings take one or two minutes a day. Where can you find a minute a day to immerse yourself in the word of God? Maybe you are morning person, and this would be something you can read first thing in the morning. On the other hand, maybe you are a night person and ending your day with the word of God would work for you. Maybe on the ride to school or while you are brushing your teeth. Or maybe this can be a dinner devotional where everyone at the table listens while the words are read.
Several of the youth have told me they have lost their copy. If, after a thorough hunt, you are still unable to find the book, I will order one for you for a charge of $15.00 (the first one is free). Or, you can order the book yourself. The ISBN is 9780805445404.
I encourage everyone to read from the One Minute Bible for Students.

Medical Release Forms
In order to participate in youth activities, you need to have a medical release form on file. Please note that the forms is two pages (or if you get it from me it is front and back). The second page must be signed! I have three forms that were filled out on the front page but were not signed on the back and 28 forms that are complete. Not bad but we still have some outstanding.
Bring A Friend Contest Through End Of The Year
So far we have three youth tied for first place in our Bring a Friend Contest. A prize will be awarded to the Middle School Youth and to the High School Youth that brings the most friends between now and the end of the calendar year. Don’t keep our church youth group a secret. Bring a friend and share the love!
