Crop Walk

Crop Walk 2018 Coming on February 25

Help make a difference and at the same time enjoy a fun family activity! Join the interfaith community walk to raise awareness and funds for international hunger relief as well as funds for local hunger fighting (25% of the money raised will again be distributed to local agencies in the Austin area). Save the date for Austin's Crop Walk which takes place Sunday February 25 at Camp Mabry. The walk is 2.4 miles and begins at 2 pm. More details on sign up and the walker's packets will be available soon. Last year Team MUMC raised $430 and to give you an idea of the impact, for the Central Texas Food Bank, the donations helped create 292 meals for families in need. Additionally, for the portion that went to global efforts to reduce poverty and hunger, your donations equated to providing home gardens in Indonesia for 4 families. CROP Hunger Walks help to support the overall ministry of Church World Service (CWS) especially for its mission work to eradicate hunger and poverty. The annual Crop Walk in Austin includes educational and advocacy components. Five or six tables are placed along the route to highlight international projects supported by CWS. CWS has some 68 years of experience working in partnership around the world. A favorite aspect of the Crop Walk for many is the opportunity to be in service with those of various faiths.

CWS is supported by the Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Committee on Relief, and the United Methodist Women.
