I'm New Here

New to MUMC?

Whether you’re searching for a church home or just visiting, you are welcome at MUMC! We are a community of all ages and outlooks – and we believe that the best path on this journey is found when we focus our lives on the teachings of Jesus and follow in his ways.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in! Some folks dress in their “Sunday best”, others in jeans and t-shirts, and others somewhere in between. You are welcome here no matter what you look like.  We’re just glad you’re here!

Is there something for my kids?

We have something for every age! Children of all ages are always welcome in any service, and we have materials to help them participate in worship in a way that works for them. All services include a Children’s Time that brings the lesson or theme of the day to children in a way that they can understand - sometimes it even helps us adults hear the message in a new way! If you prefer, we also offer a fully staffed nursery for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

From 9:45 - 10:45am we offer Sunday School programs for all ages.  Visit our Children's and Youth pages to find out more about our fantastic ministries.

Where do I go?

If you decide to attend one of our traditional worship services, you'll head to the Sanctuary.  It's on the Northeast side of the main building. If you park on the East side of the building, and enter through the double doors, the Sanctuary is right there. If you park on the West side, enter through the double doors under the overhang on the North end of the building.  There are greeters at each entrance who are happy to help you find your way.

If you decide to attend our casual praise worship service (we call it Life on the Road) at 11:00, come to the Family Life Center.  It's located behind the main building just on the other side of the large covered drop-off area in the West parking lot. Our friendly greeters will be there to help you as well.

What should I expect during the service?

If you attend one of our traditional worship services, you can expect a fairly structured service, with communal and responsive prayers, and a brief, relevant sermon.

The 8:30am service includes Holy Communion every week.

The 11:00am service includes a robed choir singing hymns, and Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. In both of these services a printed bulletin is offered with lots of helpful information and an order of service so you can follow along. If you feel most connected to God in an environment rich with tradition and structure, this is the place for you.

The 11:00am Life on the Road service features a less structured order with a relevant message wrapped in modern praise music provided by a live band. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. Here you will receive a flyer with information about ways to connect and make a difference in the church and in the community.  Instead of a printed worship bulletin we use screens to project prayers and song lyrics that will guide you through the service.  That way your hands are free to clap and raise up in worship. If you feel most connected to God by singing praise music and active involvement in worship, this is the place for you.

Why should I sign in?

Because we want to know you!  What you tell us about yourself when you sign in helps us learn how we can best serve you and help you connect and serve. Also, we keep track of who's here and who's coming back to help us gage whether we are effectively carrying out our mission to make new followers of Jesus Christ.  We want to change the world, and we need you to do it!

Do I have to be a member to participate in small groups or other activities?

Absolutely not! Whether this is your first time here or you have been here for years, if you feel called to get involved, come on in!
