Followers of the Way

Time: 10:10 - 11:00 am

Location: Main Building, Room 29 (Upstairs)

Current Study: “Justified by Grace, a Study on Paul’s letter to the Romans”

Our class is open to anyone who enjoys a deeper look at the Word. We don't pre-read, we read in class, and we discuss the overall context of the Word. We dive into the meaning behind Paul's theology, what was happening in the modern world at this time, and how the words still mean something to us today. Daniel Oates leads the class and if you have questions you can email him at danieljoates@yahoo.com. Please join us in our Bible study journey!

Marbridge

Current Study: Upper Room Devotional

Marbridge Sunday school class is primarily for the residents of Marbridge. Our class is for people who have cognitive or intellectual disabilities. The class uses the monthly United Methodist Upper Room devotional as our guide and each week the class takes turns reading the daily devotional and we share our thoughts on the scripture, prayer, and stories from everyday people around the world. The class is lively and fun and brings all of us closer to the love that Jesus has for all of God’s people. The class is led by Ken Kattner, Rocky Eubank, and Ron Mize with Jeanne Devine and Jen Troke assisting as needed.

Searching the Word

Time: 10:10 - 11:00 am

Location: Main Building, Parlor (by the East Entrance)
Current Study: Apocrypha 

Our class will be studying the Apocrypha the first three Sundays in January led by Rev. Laura Adam. Following this study we will begin our study on the lives of the Apostles following Pentecost. We will trace their travels and learn of their impact on the world, and where and how their lives ended. Following this study, led by Kim Gregg and Celia Weaver, we will be discussing and deciding the next book of the Bible we want to study. There has been talk of Revelation. Come help us decide.  All are welcome.

Nuevo Estudio Bíblico en Español // New Sunday School Class in Spanish

Nos da mucho orgullo anunciar la creación de la primera clase de escuela dominical en español.  Tomando su nombre de Malaquías 4, el nuevo ministerio “Sol de Justicia” se convoca por el Pastor John Feagins,  La clase está estudiando el libro de Génesis y da la bienvenida a todas las personas que buscan una experiencia de la bíblia en español.  Todos los participantes reciben una biblia en español.

Manchaca UMC is proud to announce the creation of the first Spanish-language Sunday School class.  Taking its name from Malachi chapter 4, the “Sol de Justicia” (Sun of Righteousness) ministry is led by Pastor John Feagins.  The class is currently studying the Book of Genesis and welcomes all persons who desire an immersive experience of the scriptures in Spanish.  Spanish Bibles are provided to all participants.

Upper Room

Time: 10:10 - 11:00 am

Location: Family Life Center, Room A
Current Study: Lent

The Upper Room class is a safe place to explore faith and practice. It is a place to find encouragement, prayer and support where ever we are on the path with God. During Lent, Upper Room will study:
1. Pastor John’s Lenten Daily Devotional in the style of The Upper Room with daily reflections and readings that relate to the sermon series "Cracks That Make Things Crumble.”
2. Will Willimon’s book The Last Supper: Conversations That Led to the Cross.

Reconciling

Ministry

We study material that encourages growth in mind and spirit and keeps us motivated to be bridge builders and change-agents for justice, reconciliation and transformation. We are a Reconciling Ministry, inclusive of all God's children. Contact Jen Troke for further information or class materials. The class is taught by various class members and will include videos as well as written material.

Gateway

Time: 10:10 - 11:00 am
Location: Family Life Center, Room C
Lent Study: The Third Day by Tom Berlin

Join the Gateway class for their Lent study based on The Third Day by Tom Berlin. The study will begin February 11 and continue the 6 chapters until Easter. Until Lent, they will be using "The Upper Room."
