Stories in Glass

She had been working with stainglass for 10 years when MUMC approached Martina Hill about designing and installing the stain glass windows in the new sanctuary. Not only would she have to design the twenty-four windows, she would have to install them, too. Since the sanctuary was surrounded on three sides by other buildings, there was no possibility of placing windows at traditional heights. So the church required her to design the windows to be placed in a way that lit the sanctuary every hour of daylight. It took her a year and a half and she had to import the hand blown glass from Germany. You can read all the great details she has included in the pamphlet, Sermons in Glass, which we shall be highlighting over the next few weeks.
