Be a Disciple

On September 12, Disciple Bible Study begins (again) at Manchaca United Methodist Church. I am looking forward to the weekly regimen of scripture readings, class meetings, sharing of insights, prayers, and general discussion as we learn together. I will be assisting our primary class leader, Kim Carroll. As we are using the newly refurbished curriculum and videos and reading from the Common English Bible (CEB), everything we will need is on a smart phone application. It's called BeADiscipleStudyApp. The logo is attached here for recognition. There is still time to join the group. We welcome you!

One of the reasons you will hear both Kim and myself speak so strongly about Disciple Bible Study is that this curriculum, in its original presentation, transformed bible study learners into new leaders in our local churches beginning in the 1980s and continuing forward over the last 40 years. The curriculum is in a narrative format presenting Old and New Testament scriptures in major biblical themes that cover over 60% of the bible's verses.

Walking Alongside New Leaders is one of the primary goals of my time with you at Manchaca UMC. It is time for a new batch of Christ-centered disciples to step up and into roles of leadership within the church. Making new disciples for the transformation of the world is our mission! So let us get on with that mission. I know that this Bible Study will encourage learners to discover God's message for today and for our church. I am so very glad to be on this journey in faith with you.
